What is the difference
between an Outdoor Magic watergarden and its competitors'
? |
| |
|
An Outdoor Magic watergarden
is a custom design and build. We believe watergardens should
be unique and very natural looking. Great care goes into
assuring that our watergardens achieve this look. In addition,
our pumps and filters are far superior – helping to keep
the water
crystal clear!
Most of our competitors use pre-fabricated “'kits'.
It's nearly impossible to make these kits look
natural or of high quality. Also, the filtration is inadequate
at best, which usually makes the water quality very poor.
To
be completely
honest,
we know that we design and build the best-looking, custom
watergardens available. That's why we encourage you
to stop by
and
visit our display gardens in Blauvelt, NY. Call John Dillon

What does an Outdoor
Magic watergarden cost? |
| |
|
There are obviously many variables
that determine the cost of a watergarden. The price usually
depends on the size of the pond and the type of filtration
that is
used.
Generally
speaking,
we
can
build a smaller custom watergarden for about $8,000.
Our larger and more common watergardens start at $15.000.
We have also built indoor ponds, miniature ponds, and pondless
waterfalls all for under $5,000. |
 |
What is a 'pondless waterfall'? |
| |
|
A pondless waterfall is just that.
It is a waterfall without the pond; the water spills onto
a bed of river rock and is recycled without collecting into
a pool of water. This are a perfect solution for those who
don't want fish, don't
want
to
deal with any maintenance, or where child safety is a concern.
You can have the calming sound and the look of running water
without any maintenance. |
 |
How deep does my pond
need to be? |
| |
|
A minimum of 2 feet is necessary for
fish to be ale to live during the winter. Our average pond
is about 30" at the center. However, each pond is custom
build to the customers aesthetic preference. |
 |
What happens to the fish
over winter? |
| |
|
Nothing! The fish survive the winter
months with no problem as long as the pond is deep enough.
You also need to ensure that enough oxygen is available and
that the pond doesn't completely freeze over. All of
the Outdoor Magic watergardens are made to accommodate this. |
 |
What if I am not around
to feed my fish? |
| |
|
Not to worry! The fish have plenty
of natural food available to them (insects and algae, to
name a few). They never need to be fed by you. However, feeding
the fish is one of the most pleasurable aspects of owning
a watergarden. |
 |
How much maintenance
is required to keep my watergarden looking good? |
| |
|
With the right filter and pump, about
10 minutes per week. We realize that your time is valuable
so we make sure our watergrdens are very easy to take care
of. With a kit pond (which we do not use), about 2-3
hours per week is needed to clean the filter pads. This is
a very dirty job and most people just don't do it. |
 |
What if I don't
want to do the maintenance myself? |
| |
|
Outdoor Magic offers weekly, bi-weekly,
and monthly watergarden maintenance programs. We can take
care of your watergarden to keep it looking clean and crystal
clear for you. We also offer many other services, such as
aquatic plant care and fish health services. |
 |
Do I need an ultra violet
(UV) light? |
| |
|
No. We build our watergardens with
the proper balance of fish, aquatic plants, beneficial bacteria,
and the right filter. All this ensures us that your watergarden
will be crystal clear. However, there are times when a U.V.
light could be helpful. |
 |
What is the difference
between a watergarden and koi pond? |
| |
|
A watergarden is a combination of elements
coming together to create a “backyard paradise.
The pond, waterfall, trees, shrubs, aquatic plants and the
fish are all equally important elements. A koi pond is built
when the customer wants the koi to be the most important
element of their pond. Usually the landscaping around this
pond is minimal and there are no aquatic plants. The filtration
is different and much more complex and the pond is usually
deeper to allow the koi to reach their maximum potential
for growth. At Outdoor Magic, we build both of these pond
types. |
 |
John, we came out and
saw your work and loved it, but to save a few dollars we
hired one of your competitors. They installed a kit pond
that looks terrible! Can you fix it for us? |
| |
|
Not in a million years! The simple
truth is that it's not worth trying to fix a bad pond installation
job. It is better and more cost-effective to just start over
and have a custom pond built the right way. |
